Institute of Technology Carlow

The Institute's Learning Resource Centre (LRC) has been equipped with the fastest network architecture currently available. This state-of-the-art network provides a superhighway linking all 800 student PCs in the LRC to both internal services and onwards to the Internet. Innovative services delivered over this network include:

- Live TV multi-casting
- Video on demand
- IP Telephony
- Wireless network access
- Desktop video-conferencing

The LRC also contains a Radio/TV studio and Multimedia Development Laboratory. The studio is equipped to broadcast standard with 3 digital floor cameras and a comprehensive video and audio control console. Events can be recorded and edited off line, or transmitted live over the Institutes high-speed network to audiences locally, nationally or internationally.

The multimedia development facility allows students and staff access to the most modern media acquisition, edit and production facilities available.

The Conference Suite on the second floor of the LRC has been designed for maximum flexibility. It contains a mixture of small seminar rooms and larger executive conference areas - all equipped with data projection and leading edge audio and video conferencing facilities.

The overall ethos of the LRC is to facilitate students to learn using the most effective techniques, made possible through the innovative application of modern technology.
