Departures Exhibition Fettit’s Lane

07/03/2013

3rd  Year Art students present a Public Art Exhibition in Fettit’s Lane Wexford Town. Fettitt's Lane, the site of Wexford town's original shoreline, is now primarily used as a short cut giving access to the Supervalu car park, Anne Street and North Main Street. But according to the School of Art and Design, 'the past and present use of the lane as a point of departure, arrival, connection and journey make it the perfect setting for this exhibition' entitled Departures'.

'Departures' is an emigration themed exhibition which will examine the very current and prevalent subject of emigration. Fettitt's Lane will to be transformed into an array of migrating birds, life size silhouettes, paintings through frames and a series of striking black panels featuring large black and white graphics and personalised text. 18 students are currently working on the project in the school's Westgate based studio. The exhibition will be officially launched by artist Michael Fortune on March 7th 2013

Exhibition organisers wish to express their special thanks to The Cornmarket Project for their technical support, Wexford Borough Council for their invaluable support and funding and to the individual sponsors that have also come on board.
